6th Grade:

Hi 6th graders! Next week is Catholic School's Week! There will be many fun activities! The following is a 'rough sketch' of what our week will look like, but be open to changes of plans as we may attend assemblies, Book Fair, etc.* On Monday, I am looking foward to watching you perform your Grammar RAFTS! Josie's group will present on Tuesday due to her scheduled absence.* On Tuesday we are starting our new story, "The Gold Cadillac". It's actualy a 'novella', so it will take us this week and into next to really cover it well!* Mrs. Brunner is coming in Thursday for Writer's Workshop, so before that, we need to hear everyone's 'hook' and topic sentence. I think we still have many to go through. Make sure to have your writing materials for the biography at school! Your introduction paragraph should be written by Thursday, too. Remember, this is just a rough draft. If you get your work/ideas on paper, it will be easy for Mrs. Brunner and me to help you edit and revise, if needed!*We will be completing workbook and other fun game/puzzle type activities for Unit 5 Vocabulary.

8th Grade

In honor of Catholic School's Week, you get a Monday off from having your final copy of LA Word due, BUT you will have a rough draft due Thursday (or before if you'd like to plan ahead!). Publication date for this is February 9th* We continue with The Hunger Games (THG) this week, and I'm hoping to make some good headway in the novel..chapters 8-12!* Your THG team collage materials are due Monday!* Your Grammar RAFT presentations will take place Thursday!

BLOG: 8th Graders, choose one of the following types of government and define it for me: Socialism, Communism, Democracy, Artistocracy

6th Graders: Can you name the common theme of the last two stories we have read (Number the Stars and The Bracelet)?

Have a great weekend, all!
